Oh are you publishing an SF story? AuthorWars.com hasn’t been updated in a while. I haven’t had time to work on it in a couple years and I don’t think I’ll have time to finish what I started for another year. It’s kinda depressing but I have to do stuff that makes me money right now =P.

Hehe. I’m obsessed with literature but obviously not grammar. Thanks though, I’ve been misusing the word for years now. At least it’s not like when I combine every and time to make one word, which isn’t even in the dictionary let alone a misuse of an existing word .

I tried to send you this little rant through your contact page, but I couldn’t figure out the airspeed of a swallow. It’s not 42.

Anyway…
I found your tutorials very useful, but I have one request, a pet peeve of mine:
Setup is not a verb. The correct phrase is “How to set up…” Setup can be a noun: “That’s a good setup you have there.”
I may not seem like a big deal, but man it makes me grind my teeth to see that misuse. Your writing is otherwise very clear, but you undermine your credibility when you misuse the language. I think this would be especially important to one who is passionate about literature.

Also, after setting up several development environments lately, I strongly recommend using the MySQL binary installer.

This really would require a tutorial of its own. But download your Joomla database and its files. Then import the database into your local database via the command line or phpmyadmin.

Your local site is taking a long time to load? Restart Apache and MySQL if that’s your problem.

Really a nice article and very much helpful for configurations. But also i have one query, if you can help, then thats will be helpful. Actually in my project/site i am using the web services, but now my site is taking some more time when its get loaded, can you give me the trick to resolve this problem, as i set memory_limit = 256MB

Thanks for the tutorial! I made it all the way through but I’m not sure what to do now (I’m a newbie). I have built a Joomla site that’s live on the web, but I don’t know how to go about downloading it onto my local host. Any suggestions?
