I sit here…
I wrote this poem in my junior year of high school while I was at a
competition in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is for someone special who I sorely
missed at the time and who remains a dearly beloved friend of mine.
I sit here listening to the many sounds of this world, and none of
it matters cause the sound of your voice is all I want to hear!
To look upon your face, oh your wondrous face and its smiling embrace.
Your smile consumes my gaze, more than might an impenetrable haze!
Is it even possible to disguise that which some so surely surmise?
Could it be that I know that you are devout and true, a friend to
everyone around you?
Still, it is impossible for one so deeply entranced to restrain his
gaze, when one such as you, who personifies beauty of which belies the
corporeal world should accept my praise!
